Meta Unveils Prescription-Focused Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with Enhanced AI Features

Meta has introduced two new Ray-Ban smart glasses specifically engineered for prescription lens users, expanding accessibility for individuals who require corrective eyewear throughout their daily routines. The technology giant revealed these innovative frames are designed to accommodate virtually all prescription requirements while maintaining the smart functionality users expect.

Priced starting at $499, the new eyewear will become available through optical retailers across the United States and selected global markets beginning April 14. Consumers can choose between two distinct frame designs: the Blayzer model featuring a rectangular silhouette offered in both Standard and Large sizing options, and the Scriber variant showcasing a more rounded aesthetic.

According to Meta, these latest glasses represent their most comfortable design to date, prioritizing extended wear throughout the day. The Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Ray-Ban Scriber Optics (Gen 2) incorporate several customization features to ensure optimal fit, including adaptable overextension hinges, replaceable nose pads, and temple tips that optical professionals can modify to match individual facial structures.

The company has simultaneously expanded color and lens selections across its existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta collections. New Ray-Ban Meta options include the Skyler frame in Shiny Transparent Peach paired with Transitions Brown Lenses, the Headliner model in Matte Transparent Peach featuring Transitions Grey Lenses, and the Wayfarer design in Shiny Transparent Grey complemented by Transitions Sapphire Lenses.

Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses will debut in multiple configurations: Vanguard Black with Prizm Black Lenses, Vanguard White featuring Prizm Rose Gold Lenses, Vanguard Black with Prizm Transitions Ember Lenses, HSTN Black paired with Prizm Dark Golf Lenses, and HSTN Light Curry equipped with Clear to Brown Transitions Lenses.

Meta has enhanced the artificial intelligence capabilities integrated into its smart eyewear platform. A new nutrition tracking system allows users to log meals through voice commands or quick photographs, enabling hands-free food monitoring. The Meta AI system automatically captures essential nutritional information and maintains a comprehensive food diary that provides personalized dietary recommendations over time.

The company is also expanding its Early Access Program to include hands-free WhatsApp message summaries and recall functionality. Users can request conversation updates by saying “Hey Meta, catch me up on my messages” for group chat overviews, or ask specific questions such as “What did Jamie suggest for dinner?” All interactions are processed locally on the device and maintain privacy through end-to-end encryption.

Furthermore, Meta is rolling out Neural Handwriting technology for Meta Ray-Ban Display users in the coming weeks. This feature enables silent message composition by writing with a finger on any surface, supporting communication across Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and native Android and iOS messaging platforms.
